The French Village returns to Taste of London 2026, taking place from 17 to 21 June in Regent’s Park. Organised by Taste France, the initiative brings together French food, drink and regional specialities as part of one of London’s largest food festivals. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore French gastronomy through tastings, demonstrations and presentations designed to highlight the diversity of the country’s food culture.

More Than a Food Festival

Food festivals have become increasingly important platforms for cultural promotion. While visitors often arrive looking for new flavours and experiences, events such as the French Village also serve a broader purpose. They offer countries an opportunity to present national identity through products, traditions and storytelling.

France has long positioned gastronomy as part of its cultural heritage, and initiatives like Taste France continue that approach by connecting food with place, history and regional identity.

French Food as Cultural Branding

The French Village brings together producers from different regions, allowing visitors to discover products that extend beyond the country’s most internationally recognised exports. Rather than focusing solely on fine dining, the programme highlights the diversity of contemporary French food culture, from regional specialities to artisanal production.

In recent years, many countries have increasingly used food as a form of cultural diplomacy, recognising that cuisine often provides one of the most accessible ways for international audiences to engage with national culture.

Part of a Larger Trend

The popularity of events such as Taste of London reflects a wider shift towards experience-led consumption. Consumers are increasingly seeking opportunities to engage directly with producers, learn about products and participate in experiences rather than simply purchasing goods.

In that sense, food festivals have become more than marketplaces. They function as cultural platforms where food, tourism and national branding intersect.

A Taste of France in London

For visitors attending Taste of London this year, the French Village offers an opportunity to explore a wide range of French products and traditions without leaving the city.

Whether arriving with a deep interest in French gastronomy or simple curiosity, the experience provides a snapshot of how food continues to play a central role in cultural exchange.
